Janice McLaughlin, President
Janice is the founder and president of FIREX. She has been working in the fire suppression industry for over 20 years. Janice opened FIREX in 1989 as an division of Life Raft & Survival Equipment, and has continued to grow the business and her personal expertise since then, building a strong reputation for quality service in marine, industrial and  commercial fire protection in this time. She resides in Portsmouth, RI and is the mother of three grown sons.


Chris Newsham, Service Manager
Although Chris is our most recent addition (early 2012) he is also our oldest employee. Following his graduation from Salve Regina University, Chris worked with Firex from 1998 to 2000. During the interim period Chris worked with a Fire Protection Company in Northern RI. He has more than 15 years experience in the design and testing of pre-engineered systems. Chris resides in Cranston RI which is a great convenience for our West Bay customers.  Chris’s expertise is with commercial kitchen hood suppression and emergency lighting.


Jim O’Connor, Service Technician
Employed part time for many years, Jim joined the team full time after graduating from Portsmouth High School in 2008. With Jim’s focus in the marine division of Firex, he has provided services aboard vessels ranging from Military Sealift Command vessels, mega yachts, fishing boats and passenger vessels. A talented musician, Jim is lead guitarist for the “Little Compton Band”, aka LCB.  



Dan O'Connor, Operations
Dan has worked for over a decade in the marine industry with a speciality in safety training and sales. At Firex, Dan works to keep operations moving smooth and supporting customers and staff.
